On 2nd May 2020, SKISA will host one of South Africa's Premier style championships -  The International Kanazawa Cup 21 years later (in memory of our late great Kanazawa Soke ) in The Kingdom of the Zulu on the shores of Durban’s Indian Ocean with chief guest Manabu Murakami (SKIF Susheki Shihan ) who will conduct a three day Masters camp that will precede the event...

SKISA - Shotokan Karate Do International South Africa was established by Hanshi Sonny Pillay in 1978 and has since then grown to become one of the premier karate organisations in South Africa, with its headquarters based in Kwa Zulu Natal.

Hanshi Pillay was granted his 8th Dan and Hanshi title by Soke Kanazawa himself. Hanshi is also the President of Karate South Africa & the Commonwealth Karate Federation and serves on the Technical Commission of Both UFAK (African Karate Federation) and the WKF (World Karate Federation)

The web site for the SKI karate-do South Africa led by Karate Shihan, Kyoshi Sonny Pillay and the organisers of the 8th Shotokan Karate-do World Championships which was held in Durban, South Africa in September of 2003 hosted by SKISA and Karate Shihan Sonny Pillay!

The 8th SKIF World Cup Karate concluded successfully at the end of September 2003 at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Durban. 52 Countries were in attendance over the three days of the championships which was graced by Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa and a hosts of dignitaries which included the then deputy President (now honourable President Jacob Zuma) and several senior National and Provincial Ministers.
