. “This shows that the SKISA Trust is fulfilling its mandate to focus on youth development through sport development and programmes such as our Youth Focus added the South African karate legend.

Physics scientist Dr Megandren Govender, PhD-Astrophysics, a lecturer in Mathematics and Applied Maths at UKZN, presented a number of science experiments that definitely left the kids spellbound as a cloud was created by the doctor in one of his experiments in the hall. Dr Govender was overwhelmed by the keen interest taken by the children during his exhibition of experiments in science “the interest and enthusiasm to learn by these children many of whom come from the” poorest of the poor “is very gratifying to note said the maestro of physics
However With all these activities it was evident that Sensei Brando Pillay (Protea Karate Coach) was the favourite as he drew their attention to spectacular karate demonstrations and provided all attendees with a Basic self-defence course.
“It was an honour and privilege to give back to our community and develop our youth in karate skills, it was extremely heart-warming to teach the many females who attended self-defence as they are the most vulnerable to rape and abuse in the country” said the Sensei Brando Pillay, Protea Karate Coach.
Mrs Anita Pillay, SKISA’s first Lady and co-ordinator of the programme was instrumental in adding the religious aspect to the programme by praying over all the attendees and distributed various religious books. “When you feeling depressed, lonely or are seeking God, I urge you to pick up any of the religious book you have received today and I am certain you will find your answer” said SKISA’s first lady.
SKISA believes that it is through these kinds of platforms such as the global youth focus that we can shape the future of our youth enabling us current leaders in community to ensure sound leadership in the future moreover through the medium of human values, sport culture spiritual enlightenment and health education we can ensure youth development .
“We want our future leaders to have a healthy mind and a healthy body more importantly we want them to be successful and not be victims of abuse or drugs or alcohol” said the co-ordinator of the youth focus project Anita Pillay first lady of SKISA.
The program ended with hygiene packs comprising of sanitary towels, tooth paste and brushes caps soaps etc. being handed out by Anita and her team to the very eager youth as they left to board their buses homeward bound
