Riasha Singh who last week end was crowned “All styles “champion of the National universities Championships hosted in Port Elizabeth received the SKISA SUPERSTAR of the year Award
The prestigious accolade was bestowed on Riasha a UKZN 2nd year engineering student at a Gala dinner banquet hosted by the SKISA Trust in Durban
Riasha a triple Africa (ZONE 6) champion has won every tournament she entered during the current year 2014
Protea coach Brando Pillay said that” Riasha who is oozing with talent is a potential future world champion “I have no doubt that Riasha will climb the WKF podium sooner than later “ added Brando Pillay
The Reservoir hills resident Riasha expressed her delight upon being awarded the “Superstar of the year” title and said she was greatly indebted to her organisation SKISA and her mentor the Protea Coach Sensei Brando for his guidance
“Sensei Brando is an outstanding coach who has worked wonders for me” in addition “ I owe everything I achieved in karate to him and I believe I can win the world title with his guidance” concluded the pint size dynamite Riasha

RICHARD NAIDOO RECEIVES THE SKISA TRUST LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM FOUNDER KYOSHI SONNY PILLAY AND AV MOHAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE SKISA TRUST
Local KZN community leader and “Paul Harris” awardee Richard Naidoo received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the SKISA Trust
The prestigious accolade was bestowed on Richard who serves on the board of over twenty organisations in KZN at a gala dinner banquet held last week end in Durban
Kyoshi Sonny Pillay Founder of the SKISA trust paid glowing tribute to Richard for his service to humanity “Richard has always addressed the imbalances of the past with his support of social outreach projects” said Kyoshi Pillay
Richard who serves as the treasurer of the SKISA trust and GOPIO expressed his delight upon receiving the said Award “I feel overwhelmed with this rare honour and am very gratified that my small contribution to society hasn’t gone unnoticed
moreover I promise to continue my work in the field in endeavouring to alleviate poverty amongst the previously disadvantaged and underprivileged communities“ concluded the lifetime achievement awardee Richard Naidoo.

SKISA karate organisation successfully hosted its annual congress 2014 on Sunday in Durban
Delegates from throughout the republic graced the said congress during which the way forward for the organisation was mapped out
President and founder of SKISA Kyoshi Sonny Pillay comprehensively explained the latest KSA policies of which serious cognisance must be taken by clubs and style associations
SKISA Legal matters and future policy was explained in detail by SKISA legal advisor Deniro Pillay of Top Law Firm Norton Rose Fullbright
New SKISA delegates Sam Nkosi ,Gilbert Isaka from Kimberly and Tembha Ndlovu from Mpumalanga were briefed about the SKIF Kanazawa world cup scheduled for South America in October 2015 and assured technical support by Protea coach Brando Pillay in terms of preparation
Senior black belt instructor Sam Nkosi in addressing the audience expressed his optimism in joining his new karate family the SKISA organisation “my athletes will have huge opportunities here in my new home SKISA” said Sam Nkosi who also serves as Vice President of KSA Northern Cape
Protea coach Tembha Ndlovu leader of SKISA in the Mpumalanga province said he was delighted at the professionalism manner exhibited by the SKISA leadership and pledged his total support going forward “ I am here to stay coz I see a winning formula in this organisation SKISA” said the former KSA champion

AFRICA'S TRIPLE GOLD MEDALLIST RIASHA SINGH
KARATE SOUTH AFRICA (KSA) karate superstar Riasha Singh, who regularly teaches classes in and around Durban set a record at the Africa World Karate Federation (WKF) Zone 6 Championships held over the past week end in Zambia.
The National universities 2013 ALL styles champion achieved a triple gold medal haul in the senior ladies black belt category. The seasoned tournament campaigner who hails from KZN province was coached ringside whilst setting a new ALL time record (triple gold AFRICA Zone 6 champion) by her mentor and coach KSA-Protea Coach Brando Pillay.
“I firmly believe that Riasha who is super fit and oozing with talent is destined soon to be a world WKF champion” said the head coach of Team KSA at the Zambia event.
Upon her return home on Monday a very excited Riasha expressed her gratitude to SKISA her domestic organisation, KSA the national federation for karate in SA and her parents for their consistent financial support for her many karate tours abroad.
“My parents have been a tower of support both financially and morally” said the UKZN engineering student.
“Given that I was unfairly axed from the national junior team by the previous NEC of KSA in 2011, I am very elated that I was able to win three SENIOR Africa titles at the Zone 6 Africa championships , I did it for the Rainbow Nation” added the karate superstar.

World SKIF chief instructor Murakami Shihan recently embarked on his annual pilgrimage to South Africa during which he shared his rare brand of karate with members of the SKISA organisation and associated members The world renowned Shotokan maestro Murakami Shihan spent his first 3 days in Gauteng province (accompanied by President of KSA Kyoshi Sonny Pillay) teaching advanced technical workshops at the WSKF hq in the Sedibeng region and was thereafter a guest of SKISA 's Sensei's Kruben Pillay and renowned SA senior instructor Ian Duncan in Kayalami The third leg of the 2 time world champion Murakami was hosted in the North West province Pilanesberg (Sundance Ranch) during which a free development workshop was taught by the Maestro for the youth of the previously disadvantaged communities Despite his busy schedule the Japanese master was able to go on a hunting trip and a game drive in Pilanesberg area Protea coach Eugene Oosthuizen (as is traditional whenever Murakami Shihan tours SA ) hosted a huge seminar at the JKA hq dojo in Pretoria that was
very well attended and appreciated by all Murakami Shihan and chief instructor of SKISA thereafter landed on Thursday in KZN'S leading tourist city Durban for the final leg of the tour that commenced with a development workshop for over 100 colour belts at Tongaat's sports centre The participants were very excited and anxiously qued up at the end of the session for the Maestro to autograph their posters with his picture and were truly delighted to be in the company of such a huge karate personality some of whom met a Japanese karate master for the very first time ever Friday heralded the Masters camp at the DUT for the senior grade students (brown and black belts ) more-especially SKISA instructors that continued until Sunday followed by Dan Exams A MAJOR FREE DEVLOPMENT WORKSHOP FOR PUPILS OF THE COLUMBIA PRIMARY SCHOOL WAS HOSTED BY SKISA DURING WHICH THE JAPANESE KARATE MAESTRO MURAKAMI SHARED THIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC FUNDEMENTALS OF SHOTOKAN KARATE WITH THE YOUTH OF THE LESS FORTUNATE COMMUNITIES ........this social outreach program was well received by the senior community leaders ,educators led by Sunil Cara of the hosting school , the CEO of KSA and treasurer of the SKISA trust

SKISA’s KZN caps rose to the occasion once again by winning a major share of the medals on offer at the recent KSA INTERNATIONAL ELITE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The very prestigious event that attracted karateka from around the republic was hosted at the DUT in Durban
Top performances from 2014 KSA kata team champions of Riasha Singh ,Pria Pillay and Thiru Naicker ,Urick Naidoo and Dzemil Muric ensured SKISA superstars winning several Gold Medals
“This was an outstanding performance by the fighters of SKISA ORG” said Protea coach Brando Pillay “moreover coz they were given very stiff competition from participants from abroad viz Zimbabwe, Bangladesh ,Mozambique and Botswana “
Many of these medallists have now positioned themselves for the awarding of Protea colours and have several international tours scheduled for 2014 viz Zone 6 Africa champs in Zambia and World youth cup in Crotia

SKISA KZN CAPS shone brightly at last week-ends KSA nationals having won 27 medals
The highlight was the 7 gold medallist viz double gold winner Riasha Singh , Yash Jugoo, Thirushni Naicker, Pria Pillay, Tayler Brandsma and Bianca Mothilal (National champions ) performances that delighted the chief coach Sensei Brando Pillay
“These champs have proved the old theory that hard work pays dividends” said Sensei Brando who is also a current Protea coach
“SKISA has set a record with this 27medal haul at a nationals “said the very excited president of SKISA Kyoshi Sonny Pillay
This outstanding achievement will enhance the possibility of our KSA champions being awarded their Protea colours in the near future added Kyoshi Pillay (current President of KSA the National governing body for Karate in South Africa)
All the champions are currently busy preparing for the SA and Elite open championships in Durban later this month during which they will do battle with visiting countries such as Nigeria, Cameroon, Mozambique, Botswana Swaziland ,India and Mauritius
