South Africa’s  KARATE LEGEND SONNY PILLAY HONOURED WITH AN 8TH DAN BLACK BELT BY JAPAN

SA karate legend Sonny  Pillay Hanshi founder of the SKISA organisation established in 1978 during the  height of apartheid  has been bestowed with an 8^th Dan black belt by the world SKIF Shotokan org. at last week ends Shotokan world championships (SKIF) in Jakarta   

The Karate maestro Pillay who is the current President of KSA (national  fed. for karate in SA)was conferred the prestigious accolade of the 8^th Dan Rank by World grandmaster Hirokazu Kanazawa(10^th Dan) who is the highest respected karate authority in the world today

Remarkably Hanshi Sonny Pillay who regularly conducts workshops around the globe  is the first and only karate master  of Indian origin in the World to be graded to the rank of 8^th dan by Grandmaster Kanazawa “Soke”     

In addition Hanshi Pillay   remains the first and only 8^th dan SKIF black belt to be graded by Japanese Grandmaster Kanazawa in the African continent   

“This rank of 8^th Dan received  in presence of an international audience (delegates of  53 countries from five continents ) by one of the greatest  living legends of karate in the world today Kanazawa “Soke “   makes my  journey of “blood sweat and tears” of almost 50 years very gratifying “said the KZN  world renowned maestro Sonny Pillay Hanshi  

“Moreover I wish to place on record that I will always be eternally grateful to ALL  those loyal karateka’s, parents, officials, karate colleagues and off course last but not the least my immediate family who remain my “pillars of strength “who  stood by me (throughout this intriguing karate journey)  as I am because of ALL of  them”  concluded the dynamic karate leader of SKISA and Karate SA   

Hanshi Pillay is currently preparing to lead as head of delegation the KSA Protea team during October 2016  to the WKF world cup in Austria
