One of South Africa's premier karate organisations SKISA recently paid glowing tribute to some of the "unsung heroes" South Africas Sports Legends of the apartheid era of the 50's 60's and 70's
A gala dinner presentation banquet was hosted at the Durban city hall on the occasion that co incided with karate legend Kyoshi Sonny Pillay 60th birthday who was declared a "Hero of the Nation " by KARATE SOUTH AFRICA (KSA)
The ESSENCE OF MY TURNING 60 WAS BEING ABLE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO MY BOYHOOD "SPORTING HEROES" AND MENTORS WHO SET THE BENCHMARK FOR ASPIRING YOUTH SUCH AS MYSELF AND SEVERAL OTHERS IN THE EARLY 60'S through to the 70's
I now can enjoy my twilight years as ive done what i always wanted to do HONOR MY HEROES who toiled in the darkest days of our country to reach great heights in the sports fields despite the trials and tribulations
